The Iowa State Cyclones fell in devastating fashion to the Texas Longhorns on Thursday night, 31-30.
Horns running back Johnathan Gray looked like he lost a fumble on the team’s final drive in front of a rabid road crowd. However, the play was reviewed and the ball was given back to Texas, who then punched it in for the win.
The refs’ decision sent ISU coach Paul Rhoads through the roof. During his postgame press conference coach went off on the decisive call.
On Friday, Rhoads called into The Dan Patrick Show to discuss the end of Thursday’s game. It turns out that, after a good night’s sleep, Rhoads is still angry.
“When kids give the kind of effort they did… It’s not just game night; it’s seven days of preparation, meeting attentiveness, the physical level of effort and play on the practice field. To come to ready to play, play sixty minutes, play their hearts out and feel like you earned something is devastating.”
