The New England Patriots outlasted a pesky New York Jets squad, 13-10, on Thursday night. However, coach Rex Ryan’s squad did not go down without a fight – literally.
Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib hauled in rookie quarterback Geno Smith’s third interception of the night and then proceeded to dance down the sideline before stepping out of bounds. The Jets were not happy with Talib’s perceived lack of sportsmanship, namely center Nick Mangold. He dove at Talib’s knees, igniting the Pats’ sideline. Eventually, the Jets’ D’Brickashaw Ferguson threw a punch at Vince Wilfork and then shoved a referee. Ferguson and fellow teammate Willie Colon were ejected following the scuffle.
Like coaches tend to say, nothing good ever happens after midnight, gentlemen.
