Shortly after the New York Jets ruined the Miami Dolphins’ season on Sunday, owner Woody Johnson announced that Rex Ryan would be returning as the team’s head coach. Johnson had reportedly made the decision a couple of games prior, but was waiting until after the season to announce.
Judging from the players’ priceless reactions in the locker room, it was a good decision by Johnson.
Ryan led the team to a what can be perceived as an overachieving 8-8 season in 2013. The team, and especially rookie quarterback Geno Smith, improved throughout the year, winning three of the Jets’ last four games. The players also showed a deep desire to play hard for Ryan.
