When Nebraska-Omaha made the decision to nix its football program, dozens of young men who simply love the game were left searching the nation for a place to play; anywhere, just to play the game they love so much.
One of those young men, Justin Coleman, caught on at Iowa State, where he contributed on special teams as a junior in 2012.
No, the pay-for-play debate is not going anywhere (just ask Johnny Manziel right now), but there is still a real, empirical value in a free education. Coleman will be enjoying his final fall as a student-athlete free of the burden of tuition payments.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder is expected to start at wide receiver for the Cyclones in 2013, and he was granted a scholarship in front of his very enthused teammates. The emotion shared by everyone involved is obvious, and even just watching this clip makes us here at Gamedayr feel great.
