Video: Minor Leaguers involved in massive home plate collision

minor league home plate collision

Brandon Douglas of the Double-A Erie Seawolves (Tigers’ affiliate) slammed into Harrisburg Senators catcher Brian Jeroloman (Nationals’ affiliate) during the seventh inning on Wednesday night harder than Miley Cyrus’ twerking slammed into Joel Osteen’s moral sensibilities.

The ball leaked out and Douglas was safe, so a play like this is supposed to be seen as acceptable – just an old-school part of the game itself. However, if we’re going to spend hours upon agonizing hours studying brain trauma in NFL players wearing full helmets, shouldn’t we at least consider better protecting catchers from plays like this?
