FSU tight end Nick O’Leary walks away from scary motorcycle crash

Nick O’Leary is the starting tight end for Florida State, so you know he has some pretty good genetics anyways, but his are extra noteworthy. O’Leary also is the grandson of famed golfer Jack Nicklaus.

The Golden Bear nearly lost his grandson in a horrific motorcycle accident on May 2. Instead, O’Leary manages to get up and walk away after smashing into a Lexus and flying off his seat. His motorcycle flies into the front window of the bus, whose camera is rolling the entire time. It narrowly misses taking the head off a young man that is taking his bike off the front of the bus.

Because O’Leary was totally fine, coach Jimbo Fisher only had this to say regarding the entire crash during ACC Media Days: “He wrecked that daggone scooter and was banged up for about a month.”

Indeed.

This video comes to us via Bud Elliot of Tomahawk Nation, who filed a public records request for the crash report and footage. The full crash report narrative can be found here.

At this point, we have watched this video about 100 times, and we still can’t believe that O’Leary (who has 33 career catches for 416 yards and four touchdowns in his two years in Tallahassee) only needed a little treatment from Tallahassee Memorial for non-life threatening injuries.
