On Wednesday, Oklahoma State held a press conference, but it was not the everyday type of droll, media-filled presser.
Instead, it was held in a packed auditorium. Head coach Travis Ford opened up the proceedings, and then Le’Bryan Nash, Markel Brown and Marcus Smart, one by one, came up to the podium to announce their intentions to return to school.
The biggest applause was saved for Smart, who is forgoing a practically guaranteed NBA Draft lottery selection and the millions that come with it to return for his sophomore season. Fast forward to 5:45 for Smart’s announcement.
After all three make their decisions official, to increasing levels of applause, the floor was opened to questions from reporters. Smart opens up about talking to his mother, to Tom Izzo and to Trey Burke in making his decision at roughly the 11-minute mark.
