Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant’s Mother’s Day commercial: ‘Have you called your momma today?’

South Central Bell Telephone company had themselves a truly legendary spokesman back in the day. The one and only Paul “Bear” Bryant famously asked viewers “Have you called your momma today?” in a commercial that carries special meaning on Mother’s Day.

The craziest part may just be the fact that Bryant ad-libbed the very end of the spot. According to multiple reports, after Bryant’s famous line, he added “I sure wish I could call mine,” entirely on his own.
