Russ Smith pulled the rug right out from under the seventh-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday afternoon when he buried a game-winner with 2.2 seconds left.
Trailing 57-56, with just over 11 seconds to play, Louisville inbounded the ball to Smith. He dribbled up court and penetrated to collapse Cincy’s defense. From there, Smith dumped off to Terry Rozier and leaked out to the left side of the paint. Rozier looked for his shot, drew two defenders, got caught in the air and passed back to Smith. The senior from Brooklyn then iced it.
With no timeouts, the Bearcats had trouble inbounding and were unable to get off a final shot.
Here’s another look at Smith’s late-game heroics.
