On pretty much every single level, the USC Trojans’ 2012 season was an unmitigated disaster. The team tumbled from its preseason No. 1 ranking all the way out of the top 25 before losing to Georgia Tech in the Hyundai Sun Bowl – far from the spotlight of the BCS.
Adding insult to, well, insult, Senator Harry Reid took a moment out of his busy schedule to jab coach Lane Kiffin’s squad after fielding a question from a USC student.
“I hope you have a better football team than last year,” the Nevada Democrat told the student. “That was a disaster. That proves you can’t buy college football players.”
Of course, this raises questions of whether or not politicians can be bought (they can, duh), but we’re just going to enjoy this one for a moment.
How’s that seat feeling, Mr. Kiffin? Getting warmer?
