On a personal note, I have always found the Tar Heels to be very open and giving. When my teenage nephew required open-heart surgery, I wrote the program to see if they could send him a gift. The entire 2008-09 championship team signed a basketball for him, and Roy Williams sent a signed headshot.
After a turbulent offseason full of bush-league behavior rarely found at UNC, it’s nice to see the team garner some positive publicity. Good deeds such as this embody the Carolina Way more than P.J. Hairston’s actions.
