Coach Lane Kiffin’s USC Trojans fell in dramatically boring fashion to Mike Leach’s Washington State Cougars on Saturday night, 10-7. Known for his offensive acumen, Leach isn’t accustomed to only scoring 10 points in a game -especially in a winning effort.
However, that’s precisely what happened as Leach’s defense held quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Max Wittek to a grand total of 54 passing yards and Damonte Horton returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown late in the first half.
The game served as Wazzou’s first win over USC in 13 years. When it was all said and done, the “Fire Kiffin” chants could be heard loud and clear.
