Virginia Tech’s (extremely) alternate “Hokie Stone” helmets are definitely happening. We recently learned coach Frank Beamer’s squad will be wearing the lids inspired by the dolomite-limestone rock used to build most of the buildings on campus against Georgia Tech on Thursday night, and now we have the chance to see them in action for the first time.

Above is a shot taken during a Tuesday practice. Two players are sporting the stone-patterned helmets. What are your thoughts on how they look in real life? Pretty legit or probably headed for the scrapheap after the game?
