I take one week off and look what happens. Laney Poo gets the axe. There goes one sure thing. Madman Mack Played on Thursday, so my betting go-to guys are out of the fold. No bother, though, because we’re looking at a good slate of games.
This is the week when college football starts to roll. Nearly everyone is settled into conference matchups. Let’s hop right in, shall we.
All bets against the spread, home team in caps.
No. 1 BAMA (-56.5) over Georgia State
This spread feels too low. Saban picked a good stretch to ice Clinton-Dix. This game will give him a chance to work out his new defensive rotation. Congrats on the $700,000 payday, GSU.
No. 2 Oregon (-38.5) over COLORADO
I want to see the muscles on the person dressed like Puddles the Duck. They’ve gotta be ripped. I will be shocked if Oregon doesn’t steamroll the Buffs.
No. 3 Clemson (-13.5) over SYRACUSE
Clemson is going to trip up one of these days, but come on. I can see them winning by two touchdowns. They’ll rip and run this week.
No. 4 Ohio State (-5.5) over No. 16 NORTHWESTERN
If Northwestern was getting a few more points, I’d be on them. This is just a strange line. OSU can take it by more than a touchdown. Don’t try and be a hero.
No. 5 STANFORD (-6.5) over No. 15 Washington
This line feels like it’s based solely on rankings. The Cardinal is humming along after a couple slow weeks. Again, don’t try to be a hero here. This is where David Shaw’s team proves how good they really are.
No. 6 Georgia (-11.5) over TENNESSEE
I don’t care that it’s in Knoxville. I don’t care how good of a job Butch Jones is doing. I don’t care how many times Smokey has bitten somebody on the sidelines. The Dawgs are good. This could get ugly. I don’t see a letdown.
TEMPLE (+33.5) over No. 7 Louisville
Finally! some points to run with. Louisville is really good, but I like the points. Temple loses well, but they haven’t lost ugly. Let’s roll the dice.
No. 25 Maryland (+15.5) over No. 8 FLORIDA STATE
I’m not sold on FSU, yet. Even if this is a home game, I can see them coming out slow because of the 12:00 kickoff. If FSU starts slowly, this one will look mighty nice.
No. 10 Louisiana State (-9.5) over MISSISSIPPI STATE
Leslie, if your guys aren’t fired up over the loss last week, then I will be speechless. Let’s get geauxing.
West Virginia (+26.5) over No. 17 BAYLOR
Dana Holgorsen is a good coach. His team had a solid win last week and could gain a little momentum. Baylor will probably win outright, but I like the points here.
Arkansas (+11.5) over No. 18 FLORIDA
If this was 10 or less, I would’ve gone with Florida under the lights. The Gators win ugly. Anything more than 10 points seems like a stretch for them. Gators win, Razorbacks cover.
