After going through the rigors of recruiting, spring practices, scrimmages and now into the summer, you can bet each of the 14 coaches of the SEC are chomping at the bit to play some live football.
While we are drawing nearer to kickoff, first each guy has to face the gauntlet that is 2013 SEC Media Days. Florida’s Will Muschamp was the first coach scheduled to speak, and he was also the first to officially lob a shot at a rival school.
When asked about the fact that Ohio State (and perhaps even Urban Meyer himself) reported an alleged recruiting violation on the part of Florida, Muschamp did a little Gator Chompin’ in response:
Muschamp: “We appreciate our friends from Ohio making sure we follow NCAA rules. They certainly know something about NCAA rules.”
— Andy Staples (@Andy_Staples) July 16, 2013
Shots fired: What Muschamp is alluding to is the fact that a 12-0 Ohio State team was forced to watch last year’s bowl slate at home while dealing with NCAA sanctions.
A little trash talk to open up the three-day media event? Take what’s yours, Coach Boom.
