Throughout the course of the 2013 MLB season, there was a fair amount of negative talk surrounding Yasiel Puig. Some baseball purists weren’t too keen on his antics on the field.
Puig brought a new type of excitement to a game that desperately needs to be introduced to the 21st Century – something we here at Gamedayr are all for.
The 22-year-old Cuban native seems to be a kid at heart. That notion was further solidified on Monday night when he invited 50 kids from a local neighborhood to play a game of pickup baseball in Dodger Stadium.
Yvonne Carrasco of the Dodgers’ PR department sent out the following tweet with a photo of Puig and the kids playing.
That’s Yasiel Puig and today he invited 50 kids from the neighborhood to play at Dodger Stadium. pic.twitter.com/Qkfycfl39b

As a kid who grew up playing baseball, a moment like this would have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Hopefully all of the people who talked negatively about Puig’s actions will see this fantastic gesture.
