The Gator Nation has yet another reason to celebrate as they wake up Sunday morning. Billy Donovan has proven once again that he is one of the top recruiters in the country, landing coveted 6’9″, 220 lb five star power forward Chris Walker (Bonifay, FL).

Walker will pair up with fellow five star recruit and AAU teammate, Kasey Hill, in 2013 for the Orange and Blue. Hill was the first major coup of the 2013 recruiting class for Donovan.

Walker and Hill are the No. 6 and No. 7 overall players in the class of 2013 according to Rivals.com.

The 2012 recruiting cycle proved difficult for Donovan in landing a big man, as the Gators missed out on every top target on their list, including Anthony Bennett and Alex Poythress.

A front court that looked to be very empty entering 2013 has been shored up in a matter of months.

Former South Carolina PF Damontre Harris pledged his commitment to Donovan at the end of May, and former Virginia Tech PF Dorian Finney-Smith transfered to Florida in June.

Harris and Finney-Smith will both have to sit out the 2012 season due to transfer rules, but will be more than ready to play come 2013. The two will have all season long to play against, and bang bodies with, current big men Patric Young and Erik Murphy.

The talents of Harris and Finney-Smith in the practice facility this season should also prove to be very helpful in the development of Young and Murphy. Having those types of players to play against on a daily basis is invaluable.

Walker, combined with Harris and Finney-Smith, should give Florida one of the most athletic front courts in the country in 2013, and if Walker’s confidence is any indication, the Gators will be competing on a high level for the next few years. Walker ends his official college announcement with: “We will win a national championship.”
