I think it’s safe to say that we’re all pretty upset that football season is over and classes are back in session, but we don’t have to mope just yet! Gymnastics season is just starting, and the Lady Gators kicked off 2013 with an impressive win against Ball State on Friday.

We at Florida Gamedayr think it’s time to give the girls some well-deserved recognition and introduce the Gator Nation to these incredibly talented ladies and their renowned leader.

Since she accepted the position in 2002, Florida gymnastics head coach Rhonda Faehn has proven herself time and time again. Faehn has led the girls to three SEC team titles, as well as seven NCAA Region team titles. Under her direction, the Gators have finished in the top five in seven NCAA Championships. In 2007, Faehn was named NACGC Coach of the Year. All of these successes come as no surprise when you take a look at Faehn’s resume. Before becoming the Gators’ head coach, she was a student assistant coach at UCLA, head coach at Lanco Gymnastics Training Center in Lancaster, Pa., assistant coach at Maryland, assistant coach at Nebraska and assistant head coach at Nebraska. Faehn’s hard work has not gone unnoticed, as she has been awarded Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year five times since 2006.
