Seven Gators Named to Pre-Season All-SEC Team
After a three day stretch the 2012 SEC Media Days are wrapping in Hoover, AL. Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp, as well as several Gator players, addressed the media yesterday.
Earlier today the league released the pre-season All-SEC teams, as well as their picks to win the conference. The Gators were selected to finish third in the East, behind South Carolina and Georgia. The Bulldogs were selected to finish first in the East, and LSU was chosen to win the SEC championship.
Caleb Sturgis was selected as the first-team kicker. He was the only Florida player selected to the first team.
Senior offensive lineman Xavier Nixon was selected to the third team offense. Nixon was the only Gator selected to the pre-season All-SEC offense.
On defense, the Gators are expected to field a Top-10 unit this year, which is exhibited by the pre-season All-SEC selections. A total of four defenders were selected.
Junior safety Matt Elam was selected to the second team defense.
Junior defensive linemen Sharrif Floyd and Dominique Easley, along with junior linebacker Jon Bostic, were all selected to the third team defense.
Lightning rod returner Andre Debose was selected to the third team as a kick returner.
