Texas Rangers pitcher Matt Garza (22) reacts after Oakland Athletics infielder Eric Sogard (28) delivered a sacrifice bunt to drive in a run in the seventh inning at O.Co Coliseum. The Athletics defeated the Rangers 4-2. (Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports)
Oakland A’s infielder Eric Sogard pulled off a successful suicide squeeze bunt to tack on an insurance run against Texas Rangers pitcher Matt Garza in the seventh inning of the A’s 4-2 win. After Sogard was forced out at first, Garza could be seen cursing him out (see GIFs below), but the anonymity did not stop with the game’s final out.
Apparently, Sogard’s wife said something to Garza about the on-field friction after the game.
The Rangers pitcher took to Twitter in response – and it wasn’t pretty (via Lana Berry/Twitter).
Yikes, tell the world how you really feel, Garza.
The pitcher later apologized – sort of (via Matt Young/Twitter):
Finally, Cork Gaines of Business Insider recorded the play in question, as well as Garza’s probably NSFW reaction:
Below, Garza is still fuming as he walks back to the dugout.
