Jahlil Okafor has experienced what every basketball player dreams about. In a short time, he’s gone from the No. 1 overall recruit out of high school to playing for a legendary coach, Mike Krzyzewski, at a prestigious university.
Not only did Okafor get to put on a Duke Blue Devils jersey and be a part of one of the most talented teams Krzyzewski has ever coached, but he led the team to a national championship as a freshman.
And now he’s preparing to be a top-five pick in the 2015 NBA Draft — if not the No. 1 overall pick.
But his path to the NBA may not have been well known until Speed Stick decided to incorporate Okafor into a commercial called “The Journey,” which highlighted Okafor’s life leading up until now.
If you didn’t know Okafor’s story before this new commercial, you can’t help but root even harder for the kid. He seems to have a good head on his shoulder and a passion to not only play basketball for himself but for his parents as well.
It’s a touching story, and it really gives some insight into the life of the anchor of Duke’s latest championship run.
