John Calipari Responds To Awkward Dan Patrick Exchange On Twitter

On Thursday, Kentucky coach John Calipari went on the Dan Patrick Show and things took a turn for the infantile. Today, in an apparent response to the media’s take on the interview, Calipari went to Twitter to clear the air.

Ellen and I were laughing at the response to the @dpshow yesterday. I would only go on a show with someone I’m comfortable with.

I’ve known @dpshow for 25 years and throughout that time I can tell you one thing has never changed: He could never play basketball. LOL.

There are several ways to describe Calipari’s exchange with Patrick but “comfortable” is not one of them. Calipari has been around for a while and so has Patrick, so I’m sure they’ve come to know each other at least a little over the years and developed some rapport. No matter how you look at it, there’s no denying the show did not go in a direction either of them could be proud of.

To their credit, both men are professionals and did manage to finish the interview with some dignity intact so it seems at least plausible there is no ill will here. Maybe coach was just having a bad day. As for Dan Patrick, I can’t remember the last time I listened to his show and he wasn’t a little bit salty about something.
