FSU Fan Launches Campaign For ‘Keep Al Golden’ Banner Before Game Vs. Miami

The seat has stayed hot in South Florida for Miami Hurricanes head football coach Al Golden … and it has nothing to do with the heat outside. In his fifth year at the school, Golden has lost the support of some fans, even with the team starting 3-0 this year. Banners have flown over each game, both home and away, this season calling for his firing.

One fan would love for Golden to keep his job in Coral Gables … especially since that person is a fan of the rival Florida State Seminoles:

Joseph Johnson, of Albany, Ga., created a GoFundMe page attempting to raise $500 for a banner to fly over Doak Campbell Stadium when the Hurricanes visit on Oct. 10.

His pitch:

“Al Golden has done a terrific job in keeping Miami irrelevant, Cane fans want him gone. However in Tallahassee we love Coach Golden, that’s why we want to show our love in 3 weeks when the canes come to Tallahassee, with a banner that will fly over the stadium…for an hour.”

As of noon Tuesday, the page raised $50. One of the donations came from someone identifying themselves as a Canes fan.

Even the most diehard FSU grad (like myself) or fan knows that anything can happen in this series, so you can be willing to bet there will be plenty in Garnett and Gold who will still be nervous of the ‘Canes when they come to town looking for their first win in this series since 2009.
