What’s not to love about a high school recruit so amped to join his new program that he throws shade at rivals before even suiting up? Take Tennessee commit Kahlil McKenzie (the nation’s No. 6 overall recruit and No. 2 DT), for example. He’s so stoked to join the Vols that he recently made a point to prod SEC rivals Vanderbilt and Alabama with some Twitter trash talk.
Even better, McKenzie knew the flak he was going to take and just rolled with the salty Tide.
For Vols fans, McKenzie is an elite talent bringing a heaping dose of swagger back to Knoxville. For Vandy and ‘Bama fans, the guy is a certified villain and now Public Enemy No. 1 come the next few seasons. For all parties, he’s a guy injecting life into rivalries that have been a bit deflated over the past half-decade or so. Win-win-win.
