Gators’ Brandon Powell Is Bringing A Fresh New ‘Do To Spring Football

Out with the dreads, in with a fresh new ‘do for Florida Gators all-purpose back Brandon Powell. The rising sophomore showed off his low-profile hair ahead of spring practice on Instagram.

No more dreads…..

Powell spent time at running back and wide receiver in his first season as a Gator. He started in two games and played in a total of 11. He finished the 2014 season with 16 rushing attempts for 70 yards and 1 touchdown. He also caught 15 passes for 147 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Deerfield Beach, Florida native was ranked as the No. 8 all-purpose back and No. 200 overall recruit in the nation for the 2014 class, according to Rivals.com.

With offensive-minded coach Jim McElwain taking over for Will Muschamp, Powell must be licking his chops at the chance to play in McElwain’s system. He’s a smaller player at 5’9″ and 177 pounds who fits the scat-back/slot receiver mold.
