LaDainian Tomlinson Leaves Strong Legacy in Texas High School Football

Former TCU and San Diego Charger standout running back LaDainian Tomlinson retired on Monday after an illustrious career as one of the more versatile players at his position of all time.

There is no doubt he is a first ballot Hall of Famer and at least a top ten running back of all time. Having said that, Tomlinson, who also played for the New York Jets, wasn’t always touted as one of the greats.

Coming out of University High School in Waco, he had the resume to make it to a larger school, but the big state schools like the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies passed on him for size reasons.

Did the fairly young Horned Frogs pull off one of the greatest steals in Texas college football recruiting history back then? Who knows how Tomlinson’s career would have turned out otherwise, but overall, we know that the Longhorns truly missed out on a one-of-a-kind class act of a player. Here are some highlights of a young Tomlinson in high school, courtesy of YouTube. You be the judge of his blossoming talent.

Football fans in Texas, San Diego, New York, and everywhere else will miss you LT.
