LSU Makes SEC History With Impressive Sports Year

Success for the LSU Tigers during the past sports year has been evenly spread across the board. The Tigers made a college football bowl game, men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments, and the baseball and softball College World Series. It’s the first time in SEC history that a program has accomplished the feat in a single sports cycle.

LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette dropped the nugget of knowledge on Twitter Monday morning.

#LSU is 1st school in @SEC history to play in bowl, men’s & women’s NCAA BKB Tourney & baseball & softball College World Series in same year

Pretty impressive and that doesn’t even include the title they took home last week in men’s golfing. There’s some good juice flowing through the bayou right now.

LSU earned a trip to the College World Series on Sunday with a two-game sweep of Louisiana little brother ULL in the Super Regional round. It’s the 17th appearance in the CWS for LSU, and the Tigers will be attempting to claim their seventh title, which would move them into second all time behind Southern Cal’s 12.
