Michigan Beats Out Ohio State, Lands Commitment From Four-Star 2016 WR

Four-star wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell is one of the top pass catchers in the 2016 recruiting class, and now he can say he knows where he’ll play collegiate football.

Mitchell was deciding between two of the biggest rivals in college football: Michigan and Ohio State. As it turns out, he’s going to be wearing a lot of blue for the next three to four years.

The interesting thing is how he announced his decision though. Mitchell had an airplane fly a banner saying “Go Blue,” and Bleacher Report caught a video of it.

This is a huge pickup for head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines. It’s always a big deal when you get a playmaker like Mitchell, but it’s an even bigger deal when you end up beating out your archrival for that recruit.

I wouldn’t say Urban Meyer was too defeated over the loss of Mitchell. I mean, he’s gotten plenty of talented recruits already and will continue to lure more to Ohio State.

But this could be the momentum Harbaugh needs to piece together a very impressive recruiting class for 2016 — en route to rebuilding the Wolverines.
