Dickinson Press sports editor arrested, charged with human trafficking

According to the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, a sports editor for The Dickinson Press was one of two men arrested on charges of human trafficking.

The details are about as disturbing as you might expect:

Bobby Abplanalp was charged Thursday with the Class A felony of attempted human trafficking. The charge carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

The criminal complaint alleges Abplanalp attempted to obtain another person for sex, knowing that person was under 18 and would be subject to human trafficking.

Another man, Aaron S. Collins, is facing the same charge, also filed Thursday in Clay County District Court.

Abplanalp is only 29 years old. He had joined The Dickinson Press in May after working in the same capacity at the Cortez (Colo.) Journal.
