Florida Softball Wins Back-To-Back National Championships

The Florida softball team stared history in the face on Wednesday night and rewrote it. A team had never lost Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series Final and gone on to win Game 3, but the Gators did just that, claiming back-to-back national championships with a 4-1 win over Michigan.

Florida is the first team to win titles in consecutive years since Arizona in 2006 and 2007, and only the third program to accomplish the feat ever. It’s the school’s second championship in softball.

Lauren Haeger pitched a gem, just as she’s done all year long, shutting down Michigan time and time again.

Following is a roundup of the celebration after the last out.
