Ranking MLB teams by most World Series appearances, St. Louis tied for No. 2

The St. Louis Cardinals’ 2013 appearance in the World Series marked the 19th time the franchise has earned the opportunity to play for the MLB title. While that number is still far off the Yankees’ all-time high mark of 40, it is good for a tie for No. 2-overall with San Francisco.

Counting wins, however, the Cardinals’ 11 titles are far head of the Giants’ seven.

Boston, the team facing off against St. Louis this year, is making its 12th appearance in the Series – and looking for its eight championship.
