Linebacker Brandon Spikes is no longer on the free agent market. On Monday morning, Field Yates of ESPN announced that Spikes had signed a 1-year deal with the New England Patriots.
Spikes spent his first four years with New England. He was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 62nd-overall pick. The Pats did not re-sign Spikes following the 2013 season.
The Buffalo Bills picked him up for the 2014 season on a 1-year deal worth $3.25 million. Spikes played in all 16 games for the Bills, collecting a total of 33 tackles and assisting in another 21. The 54 combined tackles was his second lowest total since arriving in the league. Spikes registered 47 combined tackles in 2011, but only played in eight games.
After being picked up by the Bills last year, Spikes went on a memorable Twitter rant aimed at New England, comparing his time there to slavery – nothing too extreme or anything.
