A conversation regarding the best quarterbacks in the NFL in today’s society would be somewhat confined. The names that would most likely be tossed around would be guys likes Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Dan Marino, and John Elway. And I’m not saying that those guys or any others that come up aren’t deserving of the praise they get. They’ll all likely be in the Hall of Fame at the end of the day. Marino and Elway already are.
But most of the youth of today’s NFL fans wouldn’t know who Ken Stabler is, and that’s extremely sad. What’s even more heartbreaking is that Stabler passed away Thursday from complications associated with colon cancer. The great Oakland Raiders quarterback was 69 years old.
Again, it’s saddening that so many kids will fall in love with the game — or have already fallen in love with the game — and won’t know about Stabler. He’s one of the all-time greats.
